Hi,
I heard of SAP during my MBA days and that was 4 years back, I wanted to learn this system since then. But something or the other blocked my path to SAP; my main reason to shy away from SAP were because of these questions I had in my head during those days and nobody gave me proper or accurate answers. And these were my questions …
- Where should I start? (I have no experience, all I have is an MBA Degree)
- Is Training & Certification from authorized SAP training centers mandatory? (Too expensive for a student who is already under education loan!)
- And If I proceed…What should my module be? (HR or Marketing)
This was my case four years back and now here I am with the same questions but this time nothing is going to stop me from learning my SAP, I’m going to do this no matter what! And I need your help to accomplish my dream. I have the same questions but with minor changes.
Let me first begin with what I have in hand (a tiny list!)
- An MBA degree with HR& Marketing Specializations (But zero experience in either of these fields.)
- 2 years of experience in Order Management Systems at Thomson Reuters, I used Seibel CRM. (was an end user)
- And finally I have got Work Permit here in USA but no job, almost every Job here requires experience and my previous experience is less and that doesn't count. My consultant says I need minimum 5 yrs experience for a decent Job!
Okay now here are my questions…
- Where should I start? And what should my module be?
(Before I dive into the ocean of SAP I should be clear and sure of the path I take towards my future career)
- If I go by my MBA degree- I should take up SAP HCM or SAP MM, am I right?
But I have no experience in both my MBA specializations (I’m more inclined towards SAP HCM, since I have no experience, I don’t know what to expect in SAP training.) - If I go by my experience- I should be taking SAP CRM, am I right?
Again... I was just an end user, my knowledge is limited and my experience is way too less!
2. Where should I do my training?
- Authorized training is way too expensive and training period is too short, I wouldn’t get thorough knowledge in my domain.
- Now that leaves me with Un-authorized training centers which could be fraud institutes with false promises.
(But if you know any good training institutes who provides good and thorough training at Bangalore, please let me know!)
3. My final few questions are on Associate Consultant,
Associate Consultant training for fresher’s…
- Do I get to learn from scratch? Will this learning help me understand the basics of SAP HCM/CRM?
- Will this knowledge be sufficient for me to start a career as an Associate Consultant?
- How long is the training at authorized centers?
- How is the Job market for Associate Consultants at Washington DC/Virginia (with no experience!)
I’m done with my questions, now it’s your turn to help me out.
I’m coming back to India to learn SAP and I’m not returning to US until I put my first baby step towards SAP Career, I just need a proper start and I can climb from there but I don’t know where to start, guide me… show me the way!
Thanks a ton in advance for taking your time to read this and for your reply.
