Dear Experts,
Need advise on assignment of PRT to an operation.
Scenario is, we've several handling Equipment in our plant (e.g. Lifting cranes, fork lifts , Mobile cranes etc) used to support the maintenance activities throughout the plant. If based on the capacity and types we group these, still these are approx. 15 to 20 Types (Means Mobile crane ; 100T-- > One type, Mobile crane; 200T --> second type).
Requirement is to check the availability of these before assignment into an order. if that is already occupied with some other order, system should automatically propose the new date of it's availability. To meet this I've decided to map it as PRT.
But here the Quarry is -
1. Is it really required to create it as PRT ? In PRT tab , we can define the usage formula and Counter to capture the usage time. But in my case , it's not required to capture the time (it can be done outside SAP). so should i go ahead with this or not?
2. Is there any way , we can check the capacity availability for a PRT or we need to map it as work center? If so, viewing point#1 , do we need to assign the PRT to this work center or can go ahead with work center only without assignment of PRT to it?
3. If at all we need to go with PRT process, which type of PRT will be required. Material or Equipment. What would be deciding factor here to create the master data?
4. How to handle a case if the capacity of a particular crane is not enough and we want to hire another crane of similar or more capacity from outside on temporary basis. How this temporary additional capacity will be included into capacity calculation, without creating master data?
5. Is there any other alternative way to handle this without PRT procedure..to simplify the process?
Please let me know the process of handling this via standard or some sort of required enhancement.
Looking forward for your expert comments...
Thanks
